About this place
Yixing is a thriving county-level city in southern Jiangsu Province, strategically placed at the center of the Shanghai–Nanjing–Hangzhou triangle. With a population of over 1.2 million, it has been designated an international eco-tourism city within the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. The city’s long history spans over 2,200 years since its founding as a county and a remarkable 7,000-year tradition of pottery making, placing it at the heart of Chinese ceramic culture.
Located on the western shore of Lake Tai, Yixing enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate and a varied landscape that rises from lowlands in the north to forested hills in the southwest, with the summit of Yellow Tower reaching over 600 meters. Modern expressways and high-speed rail connections make it a convenient base for exploring the culturally rich region where Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces meet.
