About this place
Yanbu al Bahr, commonly known simply as Yanbu, is a port city on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast that blends industrial importance with a rich history and natural beauty. Part of the Medina Province, it serves as a significant economic hub while also offering travelers a picturesque waterfront, traditional architecture, and access to the Red Sea's underwater attractions. The city is divided into three main districts — the old town of Yanbu Al-Bahr in the north, the farming villages of Yanbu Al-Nakhl, and the industrial city of Yanbu Al-Sina'iya to the south — each about a 15-minute drive apart.
With a population exceeding 330,000, Yanbu is a cosmopolitan city where many residents are foreign expatriates working in the oil and petrochemical industries. Its coastal location along the Red Sea provides beautiful beaches and marine resources, set against a backdrop of desert terrain and mountains.
