About this place
Xi'an (西安 Xī'ān) is a city in Shaanxi Province, China, and one of the oldest surviving capitals of ancient civilization. With a history spanning over 3,000 years, it served as the capital for 13 dynasties and was the eastern terminus of the Silk Road, connecting China with Europe, Asia, and Africa. Today, Xi'an is a fascinating blend of ancient heritage and modern development, home to world-famous attractions such as the Terracotta Warriors, the ancient City Wall, and the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda.
While much of its former imperial glory was lost to the warfare and political changes of the 20th century, the city remains a treasure trove of historical ruins, museums, and cultural relics. Designated a World Historical City by UNESCO in 1981, Xi'an offers visitors a chance to explore millennia of Chinese history. The city has a pleasant cosmopolitan flair, and its juxtaposition of ancient charm with modern technology and fashion makes it a uniquely enchanting destination.
