Vinnytsia is a historic city in central Ukraine, serving as the administrative hub of its namesake region. Founded as a fortress in the 14th century, it has grown into a modern industrial and IT center while retaining layers of history from its time under Lithuanian, Polish, Ottoman, and Cossack rule. Today, the city is known as the home base of the Ukrainian Air Force and the headquarters of the Roshen confectionery corporation.
With a population of around 370,000, Vinnytsia offers a blend of green parkland, historic churches, and Soviet-era monuments. Its position on the Southern Bug River provides a scenic backdrop for a city that balances deep history with a contemporary, forward-looking atmosphere.
