About this place
Vancouver sits along the Columbia River in southwest Washington, just across the border from Portland, Oregon. One of the oldest continuously inhabited European settlements in the Pacific Northwest, the city grew around the 1824 Fort Vancouver fur trading post and today serves as the fourth-largest city in the state.
