Planning Tips
- Plan connectivity — mobile networks (2G/3G/4G) are available in major parts of town, but service can drop in outlying areas; have offline maps and key information downloaded.
- Road arrival — the Calabar–Ugep–Katsina Ala road and the Ibadan–Benin–Enugu route are common overland approaches; allow extra travel time during the rainy season.
- Airport options — Akanu Ibiam International (about 94 km) and Margaret Ekpo International (about 98 km) are the closest airports; arrange onward road transport in advance.
- Pack for temperature swings — layers work well given the range from cool Harmattan mornings (around 13°C) to warmer afternoons in the dry season.
