About this place
Tuxtla Gutiérrez, commonly called Tuxtla, is the energetic capital of Chiapas and the region's main economic and transportation hub. More a working Mexican city than a tourist attraction, its recent growth has created a livable, modern environment with shopping, dining, and convenient connections.
While the downtown is primarily business-focused, the outskirts offer compelling reasons to visit — notably the breathtaking Cañón del Sumidero viewpoints and the acclaimed ZooMat. For a more traditional experience, the colonial town of Chiapa de Corzo is just next door.
