About this place
Thái Nguyên, set about 80 km north of Hanoi in Northern Vietnam, is the country's ninth-largest city and a lively university hub. It is best known as the home of Tân Cương tea, a celebrated local product, and carries a strong industrial heritage as the site of Vietnam's first steel mill.
Today the city blends youthful energy with tradition. Its student population fuels a bustling café culture, most visible along Coffee Street (Hoàng Hoa Thám), where shops appear at nearly every turn.
