About this place

Last updated Aug 2, 2026

Si Racha is a busy port town in Chonburi Province, set along Thailand's industrial eastern seaboard roughly an hour's drive from Bangkok. It serves as a practical gateway to Ko Si Chang and sits about 30 km north of Pattaya, with the popular local seaside resort of Bang Saen just 10 km to the north. The town itself has a recently redone waterfront, though sandy beaches are limited.

Known for its deep ties to Japanese and Korean expat communities and nearby industrial estates, Si Racha is also the namesake of the globally recognized Sriracha hot sauce. Its coastal location means fresh seafood is a highlight, often paired with the town's own fiery nam prik si racha chili sauce.

  • November to early April — The dry season offers the most comfortable weather, with lower rainfall, mild temperatures averaging 27°C, and plenty of sunshine.
  • Weekdays for fewer crowds — Bang Saen and nearby resorts fill up with local visitors on weekends and public holidays, so midweek trips feel quieter.
  • Avoid peak summer heat — Outside the November–April window, temperatures and humidity climb, making sightseeing and wandering less pleasant.
