About this place
Zhongshan, a city in Guangdong Province on the west bank of the Pearl River Delta, is best known as the birthplace of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, a revered leader in modern Chinese history. The city was renamed in his honor and offers a quieter pace compared to its bustling neighbors like Guangzhou and Zhuhai, with plenty of farmland and small towns woven into its landscape.
Beyond its historical significance, Zhongshan features a vibrant downtown river area, beautiful Buddhist temples, and charming European-style architecture along its pedestrian streets. As a manufacturing center in the delta, it also provides an affordable base for exploring the region, with convenient road, rail, and ferry connections to major hubs.
