About this place
Shenzhen's city center, spanning the districts of Futian and Luohu, delivers everything you'd expect from a thriving international hub — skyscrapers, shopping, museums, and performances. Yet it remains surprisingly green, with large, inviting parks and mountains woven into the urban fabric. This is the main area most visitors experience, home to colossal electronics markets, fashionable local life, and the border crossings into Hong Kong.
The metro system makes getting around straightforward. The main border crossings from Hong Kong — Futian and Luohu — lead directly into the area, and metro Line 11 connects Shenzhen Airport to key transfer stations such as Chegongmiao, Futian, and Gangxia North. For longer journeys, Shenzhen North railway station provides high-speed services to Xiamen, Fuzhou, Ganzhou, and beyond.
While food and drink options are plentiful, dining in the central business district tends to be pricier than in the suburbs, and the upscale bar street outside Coco Park offers a lively if expensive nightlife scene.
