About this place
Jing'an is one of central Shanghai's most dynamic districts, anchored by the historic Jing'an Temple and the Jing'an Temple metro station. Though sightseeing is limited, the area excels as a hub for upscale shopping, dining, and admiring modern skyscrapers. The main artery, West Nanjing Road, is lined with commercial towers and high-end retail, while the quieter side streets reveal residential blocks with ground-floor eateries and more moderately priced hotels. It is a compact and well-connected base for exploring the city, offering easy walks east to People's Square and the Bund.

- Walk to the Bund — a pleasant 4.5‑km stroll east along Nanjing Road through Huangpu District, passing endless shopping, dining, and the city's evolving skyline.
- Browse the side streets — explore lanes north and south of Nanjing Road for a wider range of shops, local restaurants, and a less polished urban atmosphere.
- Enjoy international dining — the metro station mall houses roughly twenty small restaurants, from Japanese curry to Korean, plus a well-regarded Indonesian spot nearby.

Planning Tips
- Use Jing'an Temple station as your hub — it is the district's key metro interchange and directly below a major shopping and dining complex.
- Head north of the temple for better value — hotels and local restaurants on the side streets offer more moderate pricing than Nanjing Road itself.
- Prepare for a long but easy walk — the route from the temple east to the Bund covers about 4.5 km with plenty of stopping points along the way.
- Catch an airport bus from the City Air Terminal — located in a mall above the metro station, it serves both of Shanghai's airports.
- Find free Wi-Fi at Kerry Center — the shopping mall provides public wireless access if you need to connect on the go.
