About this place

Last updated Jul 12, 2026

San Pedro is a densely populated city in Laguna province, sitting just south of Metro Manila. It primarily functions as a bedroom community and a key transit hub for buses heading into the capital, yet it retains a quieter, local character away from the major tourist circuits. The city is named after its patron saint, St. Peter the Apostle, and its history stretches back to a Spanish-era town founded in 1725.

While not a typical sightseeing destination, San Pedro holds a few interesting draws for visitors. The Sampaguita Festival celebrates the fragrant flower that has long been a local product, and the Santo Sepulcro Shrine (known locally as the Lolo Uweng Shrine) is an important religious landmark. For golfers, the challenging KC Filipinas Golf Club is another reason to stop by.

Planning Tips

Last updated Jul 12, 2026
  • Use public transport — jeepneys, buses, and UV Express vans serve the city extensively; traffic on the National Highway makes driving inadvisable without a GPS map.
  • Base yourself in Alabang — for more comfortable accommodations and full-service hotels, consider staying in neighboring Muntinlupa and commuting into San Pedro.
  • Know the bus terminals — most bus companies operate out of a shared terminal in Pacita Complex, making it the central point for arrivals and departures.
