About this place
Rishon LeZion is Israel’s fourth-largest city, located on the Coastal Strip just south of Tel Aviv. Founded in 1882, it was one of the earliest Zionist settlements, and its name — "first for Zion" — reflects that pioneering heritage. Today it's a busy modern city with a population of over 220,000.
While it doesn't draw the same tourist crowds as its northern neighbor, Rishon LeZion offers a practical base with strong transport links and a local dining and shopping scene. It's a straightforward city for travelers who want to experience everyday Israeli life outside the main tourist hubs.
