About this place

Last updated Jul 19, 2026

Radom is the second‑largest city in Poland’s Mazowieckie province, sitting about 100 km south of Warsaw. With around 220,000 residents, it was once a major industrial centre and has undergone significant economic change since the end of communism. Today it receives relatively few international tourists, which means visitors will encounter a genuine Polish mid‑sized city, low prices throughout the services sector, and a quiet, unvarnished atmosphere.

That lack of tourist traffic also brings practical trade‑offs: English is not widely spoken in shops and restaurants, and the tourist infrastructure is modest. For travellers who enjoy discovering places off the standard Poland itinerary, Radom offers a low‑cost, low‑fuss base with decent transport links and a handful of genuinely interesting sights.

Things to See

Last updated Jul 19, 2026
  • Holy Trinity Church (Kościół Świętej Trójcy) — a Baroque church from 1678, designed by the noted architect Tylman van Gameren and standing on plac Kazimierza Wielkiego.
  • Kościuszko Park and other green spaces — Radom has numerous parks including the Old Garden from 1820 and Park Jagielloński, offering quiet retreats within the city.
  • Yoghurt Monument (Pomnik serka homogenizowanego) — a tiny, only‑in‑Poland monument on Żeromskiego Street commemorating a dairy company’s anniversary.
  • Żeromskiego Street and Market Square — the historic heart of local life, with shops, bank branches and a succession of tenement houses that give the centre its character.
  • City Public Library and Glogier Family House — two standout pre‑war buildings: the library occupies an 1892 neo‑renaissance villa, while the Glogier house dates from 1914.

  • Late spring (May–June) — parks are at their greenest and the daytime temperatures are pleasant for walking without midsummer heat.
  • Early autumn (September) — still warm and often drier, with fewer people around and good conditions for exploring the centre.
  • Avoid deep winter (December–February) — freezing temperatures and occasional snow make outdoor sightseeing less enjoyable.

Planning Tips

Last updated Jul 19, 2026
  • Book PolskiBus tickets early — advance fares from Warsaw cost around 10 zł and the coaches run roughly every 90 minutes during the day.
  • Validate bus tickets immediately — on city buses you must stamp your paper ticket in the machine by the door; tickets bought from the driver cost extra.
  • Keep coins for parking meters — central paid parking runs weekdays 08:00–16:00 and a 15‑minute ticket costs 0.90 zł as of 2024.
  • Carry ID for reduced fares — children aged 4 to the end of education qualify for 50% off bus tickets but need proof of eligibility.
  • Taxi after dark — to stay comfortable at night stick to main streets or take a taxi, especially away from the centre.
