About this place
Pingliang sits in eastern Gansu Province, serving as a gateway between the Loess Plateau and the more rugged terrain to its west. It is best known among travelers as the access point for Kongtongshan, one of Taoism's sacred mountains, while the city itself operates as a quiet regional center.
The city functions as a practical base for exploring the natural and spiritual landmarks nearby. Long-distance train and bus connections link it to larger hubs like Lanzhou, Xi'an, and Yinchuan, making it a viable stop on a broader northwestern China itinerary.
