About this place
Pétion-Ville is an affluent hillside suburb southeast of Port-au-Prince, known as a primary hub for tourism, dining, and nightlife in Haiti's capital region. Named after founding father Alexandre Sabès Pétion, it is one of the wealthiest parts of the country and home to many diplomats, foreign businesspeople, and well-to-do residents.
The district offers a noticeably more secure and stable environment than central Port-au-Prince, with a western-style normalcy in its business and social scenes. Visitors will find French restaurants, nightclubs, art galleries, and supermarkets in a setting that contrasts sharply with other parts of the greater metropolitan area.
