Best time to visit Pak Kret, Changwat Nonthaburi

• Walk the island loop — The main draw is simply strolling the roughly 2-km-per-side path that circles Ko Kret. The full loop takes about 1.5–2 hours at a relaxed pace, passing pottery workshops, small temples, and riverside snack stalls.
• Rent a bicycle — A few rental shops offer bikes for getting around, though you may not find child seats. Cycling lets you cover more ground on the largely flat perimeter trail.
• Take a sightseeing boat — Hourly tours loop the island from 09:00 to 17:00 (about 50 baht per person), giving you a river-level view of the temples, kilns, and waterfront life.
• Experience Mon Songkran — If your visit falls one week after April 13, you can catch the local Mon New Year celebration at Ko Kret, featuring traditional music, dance, and a festive parade.
• Watch traditional Mon dance — Occasional performances showcase Mon classical dance accompanied by Mon gamelan music, an art form preserved as a cultural heritage in the Pak Kret area.

• Wat Poramaiyikawat — The main temple near the ferry pier houses an important Nonthaburi Buddha image and the Rama V Museum, which offers a small dose of local history.
• Pottery workshops — Around 20 family-run kilns dot the island. You can watch artisans shape and carve the signature unglazed red clay ware known as kwan aman, with intricate pierced patterns.
• Kwan Aman Pottery Museum — Near Moo 6 and Moo 7, this museum displays traditional Mon pottery and explains the craft that has sustained the island community for centuries.
• Wat Sao Thong Thong and Wat Chim Phli — Two riverside temples where boats pause; the former has a fish-feeding spot, and the latter is near an assembly of pottery craft shops and agricultural-produce stalls.
• The old brick-kiln chimney — Near the mouth of Khlong Bang Bua Thong, you can spot the chimney of what is said to be Thailand's first brick kiln, a quiet landmark on the boat circuit.

• Getting there independently — Public bus 166 from Victory Monument or bus 505 from Central World runs to Pak Kret market; from there, walk or take a motorbike taxi to Wat Sanam Neua pier for the 3-baht ferry to the island.
• MRT Pink Line option — You can also ride the MRT Pink Line to its last stop, then cover the remaining 2 km to the pier by taxi or a short bus ride.
• Sunday tour boat — If you prefer a guided approach, the Chao Phraya Express runs a once-weekly Sunday cruise from central Bangkok (09:00–15:30, around 300 baht plus lunch), which visits Ko Kret and other attractions.
• Boat costs and haggling — River taxis from Nonthaburi pier may quote around 500 baht; groups may negotiate a better rate. Returning to the mainland, small water-taxis around the island charge roughly 20 baht per person for a group of four.
• Navigating the return trip — Take the ferry back to Wat Sanam Neua, then grab a motorbike taxi or songthaew to the main road for buses and taxis heading to central Nonthaburi or Bangkok.
