About this place
Paarl is South Africa's third-oldest town, set about 60 km north-west of Cape Town. It's best known for a dramatic granite outcrop that dominates the landscape and for its long-standing wine and brandy tradition. The town follows a relaxed pace, with wine estates, hiking trails, and a compact historic core along the main road.
Most visitors use Paarl as a scenic day trip from Cape Town or as a base for exploring the Cape Winelands. A rental car is the most practical way to reach the area and to move between estates.
