- Getting there — Daily flights from Algiers and Oran are operated by Air Algérie. Long-distance buses are the cheapest option but require significant travel time.
- Getting around — Use the modern tram system for east-west travel in newer districts; the historic ksar is exclusively pedestrian.
- Rail connections — As of 2023, trains terminate in Touggourt to the northeast. An extension toward Hassi Messaoud is under construction, with the first sections expected to open in 2024.
- International access — Seasonal direct flights from France serve the nearby Hassi Messaoud airport, which may offer a quicker arrival for European travelers.
