Okene is a town in central Nigeria's Kogi State, serving as the cultural heart of the Ebira (Igbira) Tao people. Established as a Local Government Area in 1976, it is often described as one of the most beautiful places in West Africa. The town is best known as the home of Azad's Palace, the royal residence of the Ohinoyi of Ebira Land, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Dr. Abdul Rahman Ado Ibrahim.

Surrounded by a serene agricultural landscape, Okene offers visitors a glimpse into traditional Nigerian life away from major tourist circuits. The climate is tropical and warm year-round, with a distinct dry season that provides the most comfortable window for travel.
