About this place
Ōita is the capital city of Ōita Prefecture, located on the island of Kyushu. The modern city center is built around the historic castle ruins, where the old moat now surrounds the Ōita Cultural Hall. This area serves as a hub for concerts and stage events, with multiple venues including the Grand Theater and the Iichiko Culture Center.
Despite a reputation for being out of the way, Ōita is surprisingly well-connected. The area near Ōita Station is a compact, walkable district packed with shops, restaurants, and bars, making it easy for visitors to settle in and explore on foot.
