About this place
Valencia is the provincial capital of Bukidnon in Northern Mindanao and serves as the region's commercial center. Though classified as a city since 2001, it retains much of the character of a traditional Philippine town, surrounded by rural landscapes. As the third largest city in Northern Mindanao by population — with roughly 190,000 residents — it offers a more relaxed pace than larger neighbors like Cagayan de Oro. The city is landlocked and sits at an elevation that gives it a pleasantly mild feel compared to the coast.

Planning Tips
- Getting there by bus — Two main companies serve Valencia’s Integrated Bus Terminal: Rural Transit (air-conditioned coaches to Cagayan de Oro, Davao, General Santos, and Koronadal) and Super Five (AC and non-AC options to Cagayan de Oro for around ₱120).
- Getting around locally — Tricycles are the primary mode of transport, with fares typically ₱8–12 per ride. The bus terminal is walkable from downtown.
- Bring cash — While banks and ATMs are present, having Philippine pesos on hand is advisable for tricycle fares and smaller establishments.
