About this place
Fengxian offers a slower-paced escape at the southern edge of Shanghai's vast metro area. By Shanghai standards the district is almost rural, yet it is home to over a million residents and a growing mix of residential and industrial zones. Nanqiao town forms the main hub of activity and services.
For leisure travelers, Fengxian is a chance to see a less polished, more everyday side of the region. While it lacks the dense concentration of tourist sights found in central Shanghai, it does provide access to temple visits, historic water towns, and coastal recreation.
