Planning Tips
- Getting around — a car helps immensely. The city is very spread out, making it difficult to traverse solely on foot or public transit. Renting a car is the most flexible way to explore.
- Understand public transit fees. A single MiWay fare covers two hours of travel and includes transfers to other GTHA systems like Brampton Transit and the TTC. Use a Presto, credit, or debit card for automatic transfer tracking.
- Toll road 407 is pricey. Avoid Highway 407 unless you are prepared for high tolls billed by licence plate. Rental companies may not authorize their vehicles for this road.
- TTC bus route 52B/52D quirks. These buses bypass the airport and cross a municipal boundary, which has special fare rules. Tap your card twice and note that Presto tickets are not valid beyond the airport.
- Free connection from GO Transit. Tapping your Presto, credit, or debit card on both GO Transit and MiWay completes the trip with a free connecting MiWay fare.
