About this place
Mariupol is a major port city on the north coast of the Sea of Azov in southeastern Ukraine. Once the second-largest city in Donetsk Oblast, it has a long industrial history tied to steel and trade. The city suffered extensive damage during the 2022 Russian invasion and has been under Russian control since May 2022. Travelers should be aware that the situation on the ground has fundamentally changed, and the information here reflects pre-war conditions.
