About this place
Longueuil is a suburban city of about 240,000 people on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, directly across from Montreal. It is a significant hub for Canada's aerospace industry, hosting the headquarters of Pratt & Whitney Canada and the Canadian Space Agency, and a large portion of its workforce commutes into Montreal.
The city offers a mix of historical depth and outdoor recreation. The archaeological remains of a 17th-century fort lie beneath the Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue Cathedral, and three nature parks and a wildlife reserve, the Boisé du Tremblay, provide green space for visitors. Excellent metro, train, and highway connections make it a practical and well-positioned base for exploring greater Montreal.

Planning Tips
- Use the Metro to reach Montreal — The Yellow line (Line 4) from the Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke terminal station is the fastest link to downtown Montreal.
- Budget for combined transit fares — A single fare on the 747 airport express bus from Pierre-Eliott-Trudeau International Airport is $10 and includes a full day on the entire STM network, including the Metro to Longueuil.
- Look into short-term STM passes — A three-day STM pass for $18 is valid on the 747 bus from the airport and is an economical option if you are spending a long weekend based in Longueuil.
- Use the Réseau de Transport de Longueuil (RTL) locally — A wide bus network, mostly centered on Terminus Longueuil, makes it easy to get around without a car once you are here.
