Planning Tips

Last updated Jun 11, 2026
  • Visas on arrival are available at the airport and the Aflao land border from Ghana (costing CFA 10,000–15,000 depending on nationality, valid for one week, extendable for a month). As of January 2019, a 3-month visa from Ghana costs 705 Ghanaian cedis.
  • Use the Gozem app for affordable rides (moto, tuk-tuk, or car) — it's cheaper than negotiating with street taxis.
  • For relaxation, head to the beach near the Ghana border for seating and cold drinks, but leave by nightfall due to safety concerns.
  • Bargain at souvenir markets — most items are made on-site and offer good value.
  • If staying in Kodjoviakope, a Ghanaian cell card will work for connectivity.
