Planning Tips
- Getting to Kuantan by bus — Buses from Kuala Lumpur take about 3.5 hours and cost around RM 22; budget extra time and about RM 20 for a taxi from Terminal Sentral Kuantan to the city center, or use Rapid Kuantan bus 303.
- Driving from Kuala Lumpur — The tolled East Coast Expressway (about RM 27.60 for a car) is the fastest option; the toll-free Federal Route 2 is slower due to traffic lights.
- Reaching Cherating — Catch a Sihat Bas or Mira bus from Kuantan's local bus station on Jalan Besar toward Kemaman and ask to be dropped at the Cherating turn-off.
- Coordinating seasonal wildlife tours — Confirm turtle sanctuary activity and firefly tour availability in advance, as both depend on seasonal conditions.
- Beach variety — Choose Teluk Chempedak for convenience, Balok for windsurfing, and Beserah to buy fresh or salted fish from the village.
