About this place
Krasnodar sits in southern Russia as the capital of Krasnodar Krai, a city where a rich agricultural heartland meets a lively, modern urban center. With nearly 900,000 residents, it was founded under Catherine the Great as Yekaterinodar — a name reflecting its history as a gift — and carries that legacy through its industrious, diverse character.
