About this place

Last updated Jul 19, 2026

Kasukabe is a city of over 200,000 people in eastern Saitama Prefecture, best known in popular culture as the setting for the manga and anime series Lucky Star and Crayon Shin-chan. While it flies under the radar for many international visitors, it offers a relaxed slice of suburban Japanese life within easy reach of Tokyo.

Getting here is straightforward via the Tobu Urban Park and Tobu Skytree lines, with connections from Ōmiya and Kita-Senju. It’s a compact city and local buses or a quick taxi ride can get you across town conveniently.
