About this place
João Pessoa, the capital of Paraíba, is a northeastern coastal city that remains a remarkably undiscovered destination. As one of Brazil’s oldest cities, dating back to 1585, it offers a compelling mix of colonial-era history in its center and a sprawling, modern beachfront along the Atlantic.
The city is built on a hill between a lagoon and the river, with its tourist heart lying 7 km to the east in the beach districts of Tambaú and Cabo Branco.
