About this place

Last updated Aug 2, 2026

Isparta is a modern city set at {{1065|temperature}} altitude in Turkey’s Lakes District, best known as the country’s rose-oil capital. Rebuilt after a major earthquake in 1914, it lacks an old quarter but makes a practical base for exploring nearby mountains, lakes, and ancient ruins. The local industry revolves around harvesting rose petals at dawn each spring to produce attar of rose and rose water — a tradition brought by Bulgarian refugees in the late 19th century.
