About this place

Last updated Aug 22, 2026

‘Ibrī is a sizable town in the Al-Zahirah region of northwestern Oman, about 300 km from Muscat and roughly two hours by car from the UAE border at Al Ain. It serves as a regional hub for a mostly agricultural area, and life here tends to be simple and traditional.

Visitors encounter a community that is conservative, friendly, and generally welcoming. English is understood to a basic level thanks to school instruction, though communication may sometimes require patience. The town offers a glimpse of everyday Omani life away from the larger coastal cities.
