About this place
Hongkou is a dynamic district in Shanghai, situated just north of the historic Suzhou Creek. While it has evolved into a modern commercial hub, the area retains a strong local character, offering a more authentic slice of Shanghainese life away from the city's main tourist trails.
The district is largely residential and business-focused, so it isn't packed with iconic landmarks. Instead, its appeal lies in its vibrant university atmosphere and growing commercial centers like Daning, which provide plenty of dining, shopping, and everyday energy.
