About this place
Holon is a compact city just south of Tel Aviv, often viewed as a quiet residential suburb. Founded in 1940 on coastal sand dunes — its name comes from the Hebrew word for sand — it has since grown into a surprising cultural hub. While it lacks the beachfront bustle of its neighbors, Holon offers a concentrated cluster of family-friendly attractions that are unique in Israel.
The city is walkable and easily reached by bus from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, making it a straightforward day-trip destination. With no hotels of its own, most visitors base themselves in nearby Tel Aviv or Bat Yam and travel in to explore Holon's museums and interactive experiences.
