About this place
Northern Hamburg is a leafy, residential swath of the city that wraps around the Aussenalster lake and stretches up to Hamburg Airport. It feels quieter than the downtown core, with well-kept 19th‑century streets, neighbourhood shopping, and plenty of green space for relaxed walks or bike rides. The area makes a good base for travellers who prefer a calmer setting while staying connected to central Hamburg by rapid transit. The historic Eppendorf quarter anchors the district with its boutique shops and preserved village character.
