About this place
Qijiang is a largely rural district in southern Chongqing Municipality, formed in 2011 by merging the former Qijiang County and Wansheng District. While it lies outside the urban core of Chongqing, it offers a quieter, more spread-out landscape with a mix of small cities and countryside. Wansheng continues to operate under its own economic development zone, so visitors may notice separate local bus numbering and administration between the two areas.
Most of Qijiang's attractions are found in its rural reaches rather than in the main built-up zones. Transportation between the Qijiang and Wansheng urban areas is straightforward, with frequent bus service and taxis available for local trips.
