About this place
Gujrat is a major industrial city in Northern Punjab, Pakistan, set between the Jhelum and Chenab rivers. As the centre of a historic district, it offers a blend of ancient heritage and modern commerce along the historic Grand Trunk Road, which runs right through the city.
The surrounding district covers an area of 3,192 km² and features a patchwork of historic villages and towns like Jalalpur Jattan, Kunjah, and Lalamusa. The city’s position about 120 km north of Lahore makes it a practical stop on a road trip through the Punjab heartland.
