About this place
Dodoma is the political capital of Tanzania, situated in the heart of the country. Designated as the new capital in 1973, it has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, with most government ministries now relocated here and many official meetings taking place in the city. This shift has brought renewed energy and development, while the city retains a relaxed, authentic atmosphere compared to the commercial hub of Dar es Salaam.
The city serves as an excellent base for exploring central Tanzania. While many travelers pass through en route to other destinations, Dodoma's growing dining scene and its role as the nation's administrative center offer a unique perspective on modern Tanzanian life.
