About this place
Daşoguz is a Soviet-era city in northern Turkmenistan, close to the Uzbek border. It serves primarily as a practical base for visiting Konye Urgench — the ancient capital of the Khorezm empire and one of Central Asia's most significant historical sites — and as a transit point for travelers heading to Urgench and Khiva in Uzbekistan.
