About this place
Dasmariñas, often called Dasma, is a large, bustling city at the heart of Cavite province. It sits at the crossroads of the Aguinaldo Highway and Governor's Drive, forming part of the vast suburban sprawl south of Metro Manila. The city's rapid, uncontrolled expansion has created a dense urban landscape, known for its crowded streets and heavy traffic.
The city has a deep and complex history, from its origins as a collection of barrios merged by Spanish colonial administrators to being the site of a bloody battle during the Philippine Revolution. Later, a large-scale relocation project dramatically swelled its population. Dasmariñas achieved official cityhood in 2008 and today functions as a busy regional center with shopping malls, golf courses, and a local government-driven festival that showcases its community spirit.
