About this place
Shahekou District (沙河口区) is a mostly residential area south and east of central Dalian. Its residential character means attractions are limited, but Xinghai Square — one of the city's most iconic public spaces — is the main draw for visitors. The district is also home to several universities, giving it a lively, youthful energy and plenty of budget-friendly options for dining and accommodation.
While you won't find a dense concentration of major sightseeing spots here, Shahekou offers a relaxed, local experience. The area around Xinghai Square features a range of restaurants serving seafood and other cuisines, and the district's tram and bus network makes it easy to reach other parts of Dalian.
