About this place
Çorlu is a large industrial city in Eastern Thrace, known primarily as a textile and food-processing hub. Its rapid 20th-century growth replaced most Ottoman-era buildings with modern concrete, giving the city a functional, business-oriented character. It straddles the historic route between Istanbul and Edirne, with the main commercial artery following the old highway while the motorway now bypasses the city to the north.

Things to Do
- Cycle the eastern hills — the low-traffic lanes separating Tekirdağ province from the Istanbul metropolitan area offer a peaceful escape, though Turkish traffic can be challenging for cyclists.
- Attend the Çorlu Street Festival — held during the last week of October, this local event brings some cultural energy to the otherwise business-focused city.
- Sample boza in Velimeşe — this traditional Balkan winter drink, a sweet-and-sour fermented wheat beverage with very low alcohol, is a regional specialty available in the village 14 km north.

Planning Tips
- Drink bottled water — tap water quality is suspect, so stick to sealed bottles during your stay.
- Use city bus or car for getting around — buses require a card or contactless debit/credit payment; cash is not accepted.
- Base yourself elsewhere for tourism — unless visiting on business, nearby Tekirdağ or Edirne offer more rewarding sightseeing and atmosphere.
- Watch for cyclists if driving — cycling is possible but drivers rarely yield, creating hazardous conditions on roads.
