- Hot springs at Suanbo — Take a local bus south to this compact town, known for its many hotels with public bath areas fed by natural hot springs, including the central Hi-Spa.
- Angseong-oncheon bathing — Head northwest via bus No. 365 to find resort hotels where you can soak in hot springs, some of which pipe the mineral water directly into guest rooms.
- Scenic lake cruise — Ride a ferry across Chungju Lake to Danyang for beautiful mountain views, or take a sightseeing loop on the lake throughout the year when the water is not frozen.
- Sample local cuisine in Suanbo — Along with the baths, the area is known for excellent restaurants featuring mountain vegetable feasts and game dishes like pheasant and rabbit.
