About this place
Cẩm Phả is a port city on the northeastern coast of Vietnam, in the Red River Delta region. Its name means "splendor and spaciousness," and the city is home to about 190,000 people. While the area has a strong industrial presence, the non-industrial parts of Cẩm Phả are celebrated as some of Vietnam's most remarkable landscapes.
The city sits in a strategic coastal location that played a role during the Vietnam War. Today, visitors come for the striking natural scenery — karst islands, caves, and historical sites along the water — that earned the area recognition among the country's top scenic destinations.
