About this place

Last updated Jul 13, 2026

Bydgoszcz is a city of about 360,000 in north-central Poland, beautifully set along the Brda River. Often called "Little Berlin" before the world wars, it has a remarkably well-preserved 19th-century core and ranks as one of the country's greenest cities. Together with nearby Toruń, it serves as a capital of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie province.

The city pairs its architectural heritage with a lively cultural scene, anchored by the Filharmonia Pomorska concert hall and the Opera Nova. As an important academic and sports center, Bydgoszcz has a youthful energy, and its location offers easy access to natural areas like the Tuchola Forest and Lower Vistula Valley.
