About this place
Bo is the second-largest city in Sierra Leone and the hub of the country's Southern region. Remarkably, it remained untouched during the nation's decade-long war, protected by a dedicated citizen militia. Though not a major tourist destination in itself, its resilience gives it a unique place in the country’s recent history.
The city functions primarily as a practical and welcoming stopover for travelers moving between Freetown and points further east, such as Kenema. Visitors will find a genuine, working Sierra Leonean city with basic amenities, a few bars, and a lively, albeit hot and humid, atmosphere.
