About this place
Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, sits at the foothills of the Tien Shan range in the Chui Valley. - Stock up at the bazaars — Osh Bazaar is the go-to for bargain souvenirs, while Dordoy and Alamedin give a look at local commerce on a larger scale.
- Day-trip to the mountains — a negotiated taxi can get you into the Tien Shan foothills in about an hour for hiking or horseback riding (accessible mainly May–September).
