About this place
Bahía Blanca is a port city in the south-west of Buenos Aires Province that serves as a key gateway to Patagonia. With a population around 300,000, it blends a historic immigrant character with a lively student atmosphere thanks to its large university.
The city rewards a stroll through its compact center, where late-19th- and early-20th-century Art Nouveau buildings frame Plaza Rivadavia. Just south, the slightly weathered port neighborhood of Ingeniero White adds maritime flavor and museum stops. While not a major tourism hub, Bahía Blanca makes a practical and pleasant pause on the long trip south.
